Hamid Obaidi, a former assistant professor of journalism and communication at Kabul University, was forced to flee Afghanistan following the Taliban's takeover. He now serves as a researcher at Leipzig University in Germany. Obaidi is a highly regarded media personality in Afghanistan, recognized for his unwavering support of free speech and media rights. He has been a vocal advocate for the rights of journalists, both within Afghanistan and abroad.
In response to the collapse of the Afghan Republic and the Taliban's rise to power, Obaidi worked alongside media experts, journalists, and university professors to establish the Afghanistan Journalists Support Organization (AJSO) in Germany. The organization is dedicated to providing support to Afghan journalists who have been exiled as well as those who remain in Afghanistan. Obaidi currently serves as the chair of the organization's board, guiding its efforts to empower Afghan journalists and promote freedom of the press.
